My family have a long history with the Numinbah Valley and as a child the Natural Bridge National
Park bordered onto our family property and thus I have many wonderful memories of exploring the
Park and surrounding rainforest. The Natural Bridge National Park was actually discovered by my
Great Uncle, Sandy (Alexander) Duncan whilst cutting timber. He came across the waterfall and
called out to my Great Grandfather (Din Guinea) "I've found a natural bridge" and thus where the
name came from. Over the years, the rock that formed that bridge has worn away and the replaced
by a wooden bridge. We spent so much time in the Park, viewing the glow worms, exploring the
rainforest and swimming in the pure water. Having moved from the Valley in 1976 due to my Dad's
health, I have still felt a connection to the area and have bought various prints of the Cave for
sentimental reasons but have never to date seen a photograph that captured the true beauty until
I saw this print by David Pagey. He has managed to capture the amazing detail of the roof of the cave
as well as the stunning beauty of the location. I had to have one!
I now have the print hanging proudly in my home not just a wonderful childhood memory but a truly
unique photograph!
